1960's REVIVAL

This project took me right back to where I am from. Having grown up in an architecturally designed 1960’s house, it was a joy to work on a home from the same era.

The existing property had many great features but was tired and needed a complete refurbishment. As well as all the ‘basics,’ such as re-insulating, double glazing and relining, we added new timber floors, a new kitchen and bathroom and extended the house to create a new bedroom and ensuite, allowing us to convert an existing bedroom into a second living room.

An L-shaped plan was developed to extend the house and create a sunny courtyard accessed from both the kitchen and the new bedroom.

The extension and parts of the original house were clad in Abodo vertical ship lap boards to contrast with the original brick work. The wide eaves and fifteen-degree roof pitch were repeated to ensure harmony between the old and the new.

And already my green fingered clients are transforming the garden into a lush, green oasis.  I look forward to seeing the house when the garden is established.
